2020 Texas Bluebonnet Award

Announced

The 2020 Texas Bluebonnet Award went to El Chupacabras by Adam Rubin, illustrated by Crash McCreery, a playful picture book about the legendary creature. Texas students in grades three through six chose the winner from the 2019-2020 list of twenty titles, and 103,967 students voted through 1,115 school and public libraries across the state. The list ranged from picture books such as Game Changers by Lesa Cline-Ransome and James E. Ransome to middle-grade novels including Katherine Applegate's Wishtree, Jewell Parker Rhodes's Ghost Boys and Jacqueline Woodson's Harbor Me, along with graphic novels like Chad Sell's The Cardboard Kingdom. The other nineteen titles on the list appear here as nominees. The Texas Library Association announced the result on February 10, 2020.
