We Called Them Giants

We Called Them Giants is a graphic novel written by Kieron Gillen and painted by Stephanie Hans. One summer morning, Lori, a girl recently adopted into a new family, wakes to find that almost everyone in her town has vanished. The streets are empty, food is running short, and a local gang known as the Dogs has taken to prowling the neighborhood. Lori teams up with her classmate Annette, and the two scavenge to stay alive. Then two enormous humanoid figures fall out of the sky, followed by giant, hungry wolves, and the girls must find a way to get through the coming winter in a world that has changed beyond recognition. The book was a 2025 Hugo Award finalist.
