Once & Future, Vol. 3: The Parliament of Magpies

Once & Future, Vol. 3: The Parliament of Magpies is the third collected volume of the fantasy comic series by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Dan Mora, gathering issues 13 to 18. The series follows Bridgette McGuire, a retired monster hunter, her grandson Duncan and his friend Rose as they fight characters from British legend who have returned to the modern world. Having already defeated Beowulf and Grendel, the trio now turns its attention to Merlin, who is preparing to make a move on the Grail Castle. To stop him, they must first fight their way past a company of legendary knights. Gillen's script blends Arthurian myth with action and dry humor, and Mora's art gives the battles real energy. The volume was a 2022 Hugo Award finalist for Best Graphic Story or Comic.
