Once & Future, Vol. 4: Monarchies in the UK

Once & Future, Vol. 4: Monarchies in the UK is the fourth collected volume of the fantasy comic series by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Dan Mora, gathering issues 19 to 24. The series follows Bridgette McGuire, a retired hunter of monsters, her grandson Duncan and his friend Rose as they battle figures from British legend who have returned to the modern world. In this volume, the whole of Britain is dragged into the Otherworld, the realm of myth. A rival king rises to challenge Arthur and plunges the land into civil war, and both sides set out after the three heroes as they search for a way to bring Britain back. Gillen's script mixes Arthurian legend, action and dry humor. The volume was a 2023 Hugo Award finalist for Best Graphic Story or Comic.
