Best Graphic Novels Books for 5th Grade

Graphic novels let fifth graders take on big stories in a form that pairs words with pictures, and some of the most honored recent books for this age are told this way. This page collects comics for readers around ten and eleven, including memoirs, school stories and science fiction. Jerry Craft's New Kid was the first graphic novel to win the Newbery Medal, and Pedro Martín's Mexikid, a Pura Belpré Award winner, follows a family road trip to Mexico. Dan Santat's A First Time for Everything and Raina Telgemeier's Eisner-winning The Cartoonists Club add more to explore.
