The Top Book List

Award year

2000 Texas Bluebonnet Award

Texas students in grades three through six picked The Ghost of Fossil Glen by Cynthia DeFelice as the 2000 Texas Bluebonnet Award winner. Their vote closed out the 1999–2000 reading year, when young readers across the state worked through a master list of 20 books selected by a Texas Library Association committee. That list also featured A Weave of Words, Gib Rides Home and The Great Turkey Walk. The winner and every other nominee from the 1999–2000 list are collected here.
