Biography

Alix E. Harrow is an American author of fantasy novels and short fiction. Before writing full time, she trained and worked as a historian, completing a master's degree in history at the University of Vermont and teaching African and African American history in Kentucky. She now lives in Virginia.

Her debut novel, The Ten Thousand Doors of January (2019), was a finalist for both the Hugo and Nebula Awards. She followed it with The Once and Future Witches and Starling House, as well as the Fractured Fables novellas, which give old fairy tales new twists. Two of those novellas, A Spindle Splintered and A Mirror Mended, were Hugo Award finalists.

The Everlasting (2025) centers on a failed soldier and struggling scholar who becomes devoted to the legend of a long-dead knight, a fascination that carries him into the past itself. The novel won a Hugo Award in 2026.
