The Everlasting

The Everlasting is a fantasy novel by Alix E. Harrow about a legend, the people who keep retelling it and the truth buried underneath. In the realm of Dominion, Sir Una Everlasting is remembered as the greatest hero the country ever had, an orphan who rose to knighthood and gave her life for her queen. Her name lives on in ballads, picture books and recruiting posters, yet the woman herself has been lost behind the myth. Centuries later, Owen Mallory, a soldier who washed out and a scholar barely getting by, becomes captivated by her story. His fascination carries him to war, into dusty archives and finally into the past itself, where he faces a tale that has always ended the same way. The novel won the 2026 Hugo Award for Best Novel.
