1981 Texas Bluebonnet Award

Ramona and Her Father by Beverly Cleary won the 1981 Texas Bluebonnet Award, chosen by the votes of Texas children in grades three through six. Students spent the 1980–1981 school year reading from a master list that a Texas Library Association committee had put together, 20 books in all, and then cast ballots for the one they liked best. Other titles on that year's list included A Secret Friend, Aldo Applesauce and And This Is Laura. All of them appear below as nominees alongside the winner. The 1981 award was the first one given.
