About the book
Peter Hatcher already has his hands full with his little brother, Fudge, who is convinced he is a superhero and rarely listens to anyone. Then his parents deliver two surprises at once: a new baby is on the way, and the family is leaving New York City to spend a year in Princeton, New Jersey. Peter has to cope with a new town and a new school while wondering, with real dread, whether the baby will turn out to be another Fudge. Told in Peter's wry first-person voice, this follow-up to Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing is a funny, warm look at family upheaval, sibling rivalry and the loyalty that holds brothers together. It suits readers about eight to twelve, especially anyone with a younger sibling.
For parents
Ages 8–12 · Grades 3–7
Expect sibling squabbling, mild name-calling and a couple of spankings played for comedy. One chapter reveals the truth about Santa Claus, which some families may want to know about in advance.
