Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards honor the year's best comics and graphic novels, along with the writers, artists and other creators who make them. Named for the cartoonist and graphic novel pioneer Will Eisner, they are often described as the comics world's equivalent of the Oscars. The awards were first presented in 1988, and since 1991 they have been administered by Comic-Con International, where the winners are announced each summer at a ceremony in San Diego.

A panel of judges that changes every year chooses the nominees in more than 30 categories, including several for books aimed at early readers, kids and teens. Comics professionals, including creators, publishers, editors, librarians, educators and retailers, then vote to choose the winners. The program also includes the Eisner Hall of Fame, which honors creators for their lifetime contributions to the art form.

Comics and graphic novels distributed in the United States during the previous calendar year are eligible, including English-language works published abroad; works made in whole or part with AI are excluded.
