Robert Jackson Bennett

Robert Jackson Bennett is a fantasy novelist who lives in Austin, Texas. Across several multi-book series, he has built detailed invented empires and cities, and his most recent novels pair that kind of setting with the rhythm of a classic detective story.

His earlier work includes two trilogies. The Divine Cities trilogy is made up of City of Stairs, City of Blades and City of Miracles, and the Founders Trilogy is made up of Foundryside, Shorefall and Locklands.

His current series follows the investigator Ana Dolabra and her assistant Dinios Kol through the Empire of Khanum, a realm threatened by sea-dwelling leviathans. The first book, The Tainted Cup, won the 2025 Hugo Award for Best Novel, and the second, A Drop of Corruption, was a finalist for the same award in 2026. His publisher lists a third Ana and Din novel, A Trade of Blood.
