KB Spangler

K.B. Spangler writes novels, comics and short fiction, and also works as an editor on comics and prose projects. Her stories keep returning to privacy, politics, technology and civil liberties, and to the places where those concerns overlap.

She launched the webcomic A Girl and Her Fed in 2006 and wrote and drew it herself for years before bringing in artist Ale Presser in 2019. The comic was a Hugo Award finalist in 2026. Its world carries over into prose in her Rachel Peng novels, a series that reached its sixth book with Inside Threat.

With Presser she also creates Side Quested, a fantasy comedy about a young librarian who keeps falling into one plot complication after another, inspired in part by their shared love of chaotic manga comedies. Spangler lives in North Carolina.
