Adrian Tchaikovsky

Adrian Tchaikovsky is a British author whose books range from epic fantasy to far-future science fiction. He was born in Lincolnshire, studied psychology and zoology at university in Reading, and worked as a legal executive before writing full time. He lives in Leeds.

He first became known for the Shadows of the Apt fantasy series, and his science fiction novel Children of Time grew into one of his best-known series. He writes at every length, and Hugo voters have recognized both his novellas and his novels: Elder Race, Ogres, Service Model, Alien Clay and Shroud have all been Hugo Award finalists.

Shroud (2025) strands two survivors on a lightless, hostile alien world, where they slowly come to understand the planet's dominant species. His other recent work includes the Tyrant Philosophers series, and several of his books have been Sunday Times bestsellers.
