Knight Owl

Knight Owl is a picture book written and illustrated by Christopher Denise about a small owl with a very big dream. Ever since he hatched, Owl has wanted to become a knight. He is accepted at Knight School, where he works hard and graduates with honors, and then he is given a job that suits an owl perfectly: keeping watch over the castle walls at night. Alone on patrol, Owl soon comes face to face with a hungry dragon, and he must rely on courage and quick thinking rather than size. Denise's warm, detailed paintings make the castle and its nighttime world easy to linger over. The book is for children about 4 to 8 years old and received a 2023 Caldecott Honor.
