Ketanji Brown Jackson: A Justice for All

Ketanji Brown Jackson was born in 1970 to a lawyer and a school principal and grew up dreaming of a life in the law. This picture book biography, told in verse, follows her from childhood through school and her legal career to 2022, when, after 232 years and 115 appointments, she became the first Black woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court. Tami Charles connects Justice Jackson's achievements to the hopes and struggles of the generations who came before her, and Jemma Skidmore's bold gouache and pencil illustrations bring the story to life for young readers. The book was a 2024 Orbis Pictus honor book.
