Shirley Jackson Awards

The Shirley Jackson Awards honor outstanding achievement in the literature of psychological suspense, horror and the dark fantastic. They were established with the permission of the estate of Shirley Jackson, author of The Haunting of Hill House, We Have Always Lived in the Castle and the short story The Lottery, and are run by The Shirley Jackson Awards, Inc., based in Boston.

A jury of professional writers, editors, critics and academics, with input from a board of advisors, chooses the nominees and winners from work published in the preceding calendar year. Categories cover the novel, novella, novelette, short story, single-author collection and edited anthology. The awards are traditionally presented each July at Readercon, a conference on imaginative literature in the Boston area.
