2022 Newbery Medal

The 2022 Newbery Medal went to The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera, a science fiction novel about a girl who carries her grandmother's stories to a new planet. Four Newbery Honor Books were also named: Red, White, and Whole by Rajani LaRocca; A Snake Falls to Earth by Darcie Little Badger; Too Bright to See by Kyle Lukoff; and Watercress by Andrea Wang, illustrated by Jason Chin, which also won that year's Caldecott Medal. The American Library Association announced the results on January 24, 2022.
