Goodreads Choice Awards
About the award
The Goodreads Choice Awards are decided by readers. Each year Goodreads, the book-tracking website, picks nominees in 15 categories, from fiction and fantasy to romance, nonfiction and debut novels, using statistics on the millions of books its members add, rate and review. The awards were first held in 2009 and draw millions of votes.
Voting is open to every registered Goodreads member and runs in two rounds through November. In the opening round, members choose among 20 nominees in each category; the top 10 move on to a final round, and winners are announced in early December. Official nominees must have an average rating of at least 3.5 stars, and only one book in a series may be nominated in each category.
Books published in the United States in English, including translations and significant rereleases, between mid-November of the previous year and mid-November of the award year.
Usually announced in December.
