Marla Frazee

Marla Frazee is an author and illustrator of picture books who works from a small backyard studio in Pasadena, California. Over a long career she has made books that range from comic to quietly reflective, and she has received three Caldecott Honors: for A Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever (2009), All the World (2010), written by Liz Garton Scanlon, and In Every Life (2024).

Her picture book The Boss Baby inspired two DreamWorks animated films and a television series. Her other books include The Seven Silly Eaters, the wordless The Farmer and the Clown, which began a trilogy, and the poetry collection How Elegant the Elephant, and she illustrated the Clementine chapter book series by Sara Pennypacker.

In Every Life (2023), a spare reflection on the moments that make up a human life, shows the gentler side of her work.
