Biography

Antonia Hodgson is a British novelist who spent more than twenty years in publishing, rising to editor-in-chief at Little, Brown, before becoming a full-time writer. She grew up in Derby, studied English at the University of Leeds, and now lives in Kent, where she also works as a freelance editor.

Her first novel, The Devil in the Marshalsea (2014), introduced Thomas Hawkins, a likable but reckless young man in 18th-century London, and launched a historical crime series that continued with The Last Confession of Thomas Hawkins, A Death at Fountains Abbey and The Silver Collar.

The Raven Scholar (2025) was her first fantasy novel. In it, Neema Kraa, the emperor's gifted and unconventional High Scholar in the empire of Orrun, must unmask a killer among the rivals competing to take the throne. The book opens The Eternal Path trilogy and was a Hugo Award finalist in 2026.
